On this date, April 20th Margo was reading in the book of Mark 10:17-31 titled "Jesus and the Rich Man" and in II Corinthians 2:5-11 titled "Forgive the Repentant Sinner".
These are the verses Margo underlined in the gospel of Mark:
"26:The disciples were even more amazed, and said to each other, "Who then can be saved?"
27:Jesus looked at them and said, "With man this is impossible, but not with God; all things are possible with God.""
These are the sentences Margo underlined in the commentary on the passage in the gospel of Mark:
"There was a barrier keeping this young man out of the kingdom: his love of money...Their abundance becomes their deficiency. Jesus explained that in the world to come, the values of this world will be reversed. Those who seek status and importance here will have none in heaven. The person who has everything on earth can still lack what is most important--eternal life. What barriers are keeping you from turning your life over to Christ?"
These are the sentences Margo underlined in the commentary on the passage in II Corinthians:
"...Church discipline should always allow for restoration. Two mistakes can be made in church discipline--being too lenient with sin and not correcting mistakes, or being too harsh and unforgiving...We must be cautious that personal anger is not vented under the guise of church discipline."
