Margo's Bible Verses March 31st

On this date, March 31st Margo was reading in the book of Mark 4:35-41 titled "Jesus Calms the Storm" and in I Corinthians 14:1-5 titled "Prophecy and Tongues".

These are the verses Margo underlined in the passage in I Corinthians, the apostle Paul writing:

"1:Follow the way of love and eagerly desire spiritual gifts, especially the gift of prophecy...5:I would like every one of you to speak in tongues, but I would rather have you prophesy. He who prophesies is greater than one who speaks in tongues, unless he interprets, so that the church may be edified. "

These are the sentences Margo underlined in the commentary on the passage in I Corinthians:

"Paul makes several points about speaking in tongues:(1)it is a spiritual gift from God;(2)it is a desirable gift even though it isn't a requirement of faith; (3) it is less important than prophecy and teaching."

Margo's Bible Verses March 28th

On this date, March 28th Margo was reading in the book of Mark 3:20-35 titled "The Kingdom of God and the Kingdom of Satan" and in I Corinthians 12:28-31 titled "The Gifts of the Spirit".

This is the verse Margo underlined in the passage in the gospel of Mark, Jesus speaking :

"29:But whoever blasphemes against the Holy Spirit will never be forgiven; he is guilty of an eternal sin."

This is the verse Margo underlined in the passage in I Corinthians, the apostle Paul writing:

"28:And in the church God has appointed first of all apostles, second prophets, third teachers, then workers of miracles, also those having gifts of healing, those able to help others, those with gifts of administration, and those speaking in different kinds of tongues. "

These are the sentences Margo underlined in the commentary on the passage in I Corinthians:

"The more important gifts are those that are more beneficial to the body of Christ. Paul already made it clear that one gift is not superior to another, but he urges the believers to discover how they can serve Christ's body best with the gifts God has given them. Your spiritual gifts are not for your own self-advancement. They were given for serving God and enhancing the spiritual growth of the body."

Margo's Bible Verses March 23rd

On this date, March 23nd Margo was reading in the book of Mark 2:1-12 titled "Jesus Heals a Paralytic" and in I Corinthians 11:23-34 titled "Sharing at the Lord's Table".

Margo underlined these verses in the passage in I Corinthians, the apostle Paul writing:

24:and when he had given thanks, he broke it and said, "This is my body, which is for you; do this in remembrance of me." 25:In the same way, after supper he took the cup, saying, "This cup is the new covenant in my blood; do this, whenever you drink it, in remembrance of me." 26:For whenever you eat this bread and drink this cup, you proclaim the Lord's death until he comes.

27:Therefore, whoever eats the bread or drinks the cup of the Lord in an unworthy manner will be guilty of sinning against the body and blood of the Lord. 28:A man ought to examine himself before he eats of the bread and drinks of the cup. 29:For anyone who eats and drinks without recognizing the body of the Lord eats and drinks judgment on himself. 30:That is why many among you are weak and sick, and a number of you have fallen asleep.

This is what she underlined in the commentary:

"(1)We should take the Lord"s Super with a repentant attitude because we are remembering that Christ died for our sins. (2) We should take it after self-examination. We are to be prepared and ready, doing it only through our belief in and love for Christ. (3) We should take it in recognition of Jesus' act of love in taking away the punishment we deserve for our sins. (4) We should take it with mutual consideration, waiting until everyone is present and eating in an orderly and unified manner."
