Margo's Bible Verses September 4th

On this date, September 4th, Margo was reading in the gospel of John 10:22--42 titled "Jesus Is God's Son" and in II Timothy 2:1--7 titled "Endure As A Soldier of Christ".

Margo underlines several verses in the gospel of John and in the associated commentary on John. These are the verses she underlined:

Jesus speaking, "27: My sheep listen to my voice; I know them, and they follow me. 28:I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; no one can snatch them out of my hand. 29:My Father , who has given them to me, is greater than all; no one can snatch them out of my Father's hand. 30:I and the Father are one."

To provide context, I'm including the first couple sentences of the commentary:
"These Jewish leaders were waiting for the signs and answers they thought would convince them of Jesus' identity. Thus they couldn't hear the truth Jesus was giving them."

Here's what she underlined in the commentary on John:
"Jesus tried to correct their mistaken ideas, but they clung to the wrong idea of what kind of Messiah God would send. Such blindness still keeps people away from Jesus."

Margo didn't underline any verses in II Timothy, but she underlined several sentences in the commentary:
"Paul directed Timothy to the lives of soldiers, athletes, and farmers as examples of ones who endure suffering for the sake of achieving a desired end. Soldiers, athletes, and farmers all must discipline themselves and be willing to sacrifice to achieve the results they want...We keep going in spite of suffering because of the hope of victory, the vision of winning, and the hope of harvest. All our suffering is made worthwhile by our goal of glorifying God, winning people to Christ, and one day living eternally with him."

She underlined these verses in Proverbs 22:17--19:
"Pay attention and listen to the saying of the wise; apply your heart to what I teach, for it is pleasing when you keep them in your heart and have all of them ready on your lips. So that your trust may be in the Lord, I teach you today, even you."
